Our beginning

Just across the river and over the hill from Zederkamm Farm is another Kinder goat breeder and dear friend, Celeste. The two of us were searching for beauty products that we could trust not to irritate sensitive skin, yet would be practical for use on skin roughened by home and farm chores. A local craft shop offered a soap making class, and we decided to sign up. We agreed that it would be a great idea to practice our new-found skills by making gifts for our families and friends. And what better new way to use the very rich milk from our Kinder goats?

During the time that we were eagerly experimenting, and our first soaps were curing, more and more acquaintances kept asking us when we would have some soap for sale. Sales had definitely not been in our original plan, but there was so much interest and then positive feedback from those who received our gifts, that we decided it might be fun to give marketing a try - and so Shepherd's Heart was born.

There is something very satisfying about creating a beautiful and useful product from scratch, and taking it through to the final packaging and labeling. It is a special delight having good reports coming back from our satisfied consumers.

Our goal

We strive to make a product that we are pleased to use, and that we can be satisfied will be a pleasure for others to use as well. Your good health is a primary concern, so we use fine quality natural ingredients, and colors and scents are all cosmetic grade or better. Occasionally there will be a chemically sensitive individual who will react to certain ingredients, natural or not, particularly fragrances, so if you fall into that category it is always wise to use a standard patch test on your forearm to check for any adverse reactions. All of our products have been successfully tested on ourselves (Celeste is one of those super-sensitive people) and on friends and family. For your convenience and safety, all ingredients are listed on the labels for each product, and on our web site you will see the complete listing of ingredients for each product as well.
